China recorded their first win at the East Asia Championship in Nanjing. They prevailed against Hong Kong for 1-0 record in preliminary Group A. China will take on South Korea tomorrow for the top spot in the pool. Hong Kong in the meantime suffered the second straight defeat and got eliminated. Peng Duo (192-G/F-90) produced 22 points to lead the hosts. China dominated every facet of the game. They outscored Hong Kong 28:5 in the first frame. The home team continued to mount their lead in the second term. China recorded a 49:16 halftime advantage. Hong Kong had little to hope for after the long break. China easily passed 100-mark and rallied to a more than comfortable win at the end. Yi Li (203-F/G-85) dropped 18 points, while Yu Shulong (185-G-90) contributed 17 points in the winning effort.

Hong Kong stepped on the gas in the third quarter. They fired 24 points and piled up a 7-point buffer heading into the final frame. Mongolia tried hard to change the situation and cut the deficit but Hong Kong hung on to eke out victory at the end. Lee Ki (177-PG-87) netted 18 points, while Cheng Kam Hing (189-F-85) had 17 points for the winners. Sanchir Tungalag (188-G-89) responded with game-high 39 points for Mongolia. They held Hong Kong to only 9 points in the first period and secured a 6-point advantage. Hong Kong however came back to life in the second frame. They dropped 25 points in the quarter to pull in front 34:31. China regained control after the big break. They notched 26 points in the third term to rally to a 57:49 lead at the final intermission. China finished off their opponents with a 27:10 spurt in the fourth stanza. Guo Ailun (192-SF-93) netted 14 points, while Zhao TaiLong (193-G/F-90) added 12 points for the winners.
