Marco Alexander (186-G-91) scored 25 points to lead the charge. New Zealand fired 27 points in the opening term to build a 9-point lead. The Kiwis cleared off in the second frame. They built a 22-point halftime advantage. New Zealand went on a 13:4 run to open the third stanza. Hong Kong never recovered in the reminder of the contest as New Zealand cruised to the victory at the end. Justin Richard Edwards (197-F-90) posted 24 points, while Dion Prewster (195-G/F-91, college: Stephen F. Austin) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the winning effort. Hong Kong answered with 23 points from Lee Ki (177-PG-87). Chan Yik Lun (190-G-87) had 11 points in defeat.

UAE shifted the gear in the third frame. They strongly finished the period to pile up an 11-point lead 69:58. UAE boosted the margin to 16 points midway through the final stanza and marched to the victory at the end. Rashed Al Zaabi (190-G-88) notched 20 points and 17 rebounds in the victory. Lee Ki (177-PG-87) answered with 25 points for Hong Kong. Chan Yik Lun (190-G-87) tallied 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in defeat.

Canada registered the third win at World University Games in China. They overcame Hong Kong to clinch the top position in Group B. Warren Ward (196-G-89) accounted for 17 points to lead the effort. Hong Kong suffered the fourth straight defeat at the tournament. Honk Kong came up with arguably their best performance at the tournament when they stayed in charge against Canada in the first period. Canada eventually denied the deficit and levelled things up at 14 after ten minutes. But the North American side shook off sloppiness and erupted for an 18:4 run at the start of the second period. Canada built a 40:22 lead at the interval. They dominated in the third term recording a 60:34 advantage into the fourth period. Canada never slowed down and rolled to a confident win at the end. Jahmal Jones (183-PG-91) and Cole Hobin (198-G-89) delivered 12 points each in the victory. Mok Ka Chun (203-C-88) and Chan Yik Lun (190-G-87) answered with 8 points apiece in the loss.
