Indonesia avoided last place on AsiaBasket 2009 in Tianjin. It means that the only winless team on this event is Sri Lanka and they finished as No.16. Of course, 15th place belongs to Indonesia. Sri Lanka totally gave up at the end netting just 6 points in the last ten minutes. Indonesia used that chance to stretch its lead and to finish AsiaBasket 2009 with 32-point win.

Japan destroyed Sri Lanka in the last game of Preliminary Round ending it with 1-2 record in Group A. It means that Japan is going to new Group E, together with South Korea, Philippines, Iran, Taiwan and Kuwait. Sri Lanka continues in Classification Round. Japan destroyed Sri Lanka in the last game of Preliminary Round ending it with 1-2 record in Group A. It means that Japan is going to new Group E, together with South Korea, Philippines, Iran, Taiwan and Kuwait. Sri Lanka continues in Classification Round. Yusuke Okada (185-G-84) was on fire in victory scoring 30 points (10 triples). Tomoo Amino (196-F/G-80) had 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Kosuke Takeuchi (205-C/F-85) added 21 pts and 11 boards. In the loosing squad Chamath Danawansa (-83) provided 10 pts. All other players in this defeat had les than 8 pts. Japan was way better team during the entire time. They opened the game with impressive 4-19 lead and it was a clear signal what is going to happen until the end. After ten minutes it was 11-36 for Japan. Nothing has changed in the next period as Japan stilled dominated in all basketball elements. In15th minute it was huge 16-52. Later Japan touched 18-60 and 25-82. That was real fiasco for Sri Lanka, who will try to register first win in Tianjin in Classification Round. The championship continues on Monday.

South Korea had an easy job today against Sri Lanka jumping to 2-0 record in Preliminary Group A. It means that Koreans already booked a spot for the next stage on FIBA Asia Championship 2009. Lee Kyu Sup (198-F-77) shined in victory draining 28 points. He made 8 of 15 attempts from behind the arc. The Koreans opened the match with fantastic 21-2 run. Until the end of the first quarter they jumped to 40-16 and it was already clear that Sri Lanka wil not have a chance at all. Actually this was another fiasco for them as South Korea scored 25 more points until the half time and Sri Lanka added just 7. The Koreans didn't stop after the breather. They continued with destroying their rivals making 32-15 in third and 25-15 in the last quarter. Tomorrow, South Korea will meet Philippines. Sri Lanka will take on Japan.
