Iran celebrated the second straight win at U18 Asia Championship in Yemen. They fired past Sri Lanka to remain on top of Group A. Sri Lanka suffered the second consecutive defeat at the tournament.
Iran silenced their opponents in the starting quarter. Led by Mirzaeitalarposhti Meisam (92) and Amir Sedighi (185-F/G-93) Iran exploded with 34 points and posted a 28-point lead. Iran tipped off the second quarter with a 15:4 run to boost the distance. Iran arrived at halftime leading by as many as 38 points. Things hardly changed in the second half. Iran dominated every facet of the encounter. They headed into the final quarter enjoying a massive 79:17 buffer and did not look back en route to the victory.
Mirzaeitalarposhti Meisam stepped up with 23 points for Iran. Amir Sedighi added 21 points, while Mirfattahi Mirmohammad (93) accounted for 15 points in the winning effort. Madhushanka Rathnayake (185-G-92) answered with 13 points for Sri Lanka. Shehan Vasana Perera (193-F-92) delivered 8 points in the loss.
