Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Happinets (5-25) lost to ninth ranked NeoPhoenix (13-17) in Hamamatsu 72-85 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San-en NP made 7 blocks. American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) notched 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks to lead the effort and American power forward Cameron Jackson (203-1996, college: Wofford, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Nwaba is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. NeoPhoenix's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds by Australian power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) did not help to save the game for Akita NH. American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) added 7 points and 10 rebounds. San-en NP moved-up to eighth place, which they share with FE Nagoya and Osaka E. Akita NH lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 25 games lost. San-en NP will meet at home league's leader Nagasaki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Akita NH will play against Kawasaki (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
