The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Golden Kings (37-14) in Okinawa on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Dolphins (34-19) 98-95. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Golden Kings. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Nagoya DD looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. American power forward Scott Eatherton (208-1991, college: Northeastern) contributed with 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Keita Imamura (191-1996) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for Ryukyu. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dolphins have an impressive six-game winning streak. Nagoya DD maintains second position with 34-19 record having five points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Defending champion Ryukyu still keeps top place with 14 games lost. Nagoya DD's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nagoya FE Nagoya.
Another interesting game for Shimane SM (30-21) which played on the court of Hiroshima D. (29-22). Third ranked Shimane SM won 70-61. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Shota Tsuyama (180-1996) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and Nick Kay who added 13 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals during the contest. At the losing side American forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Dragonflies' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane SM moved-up to second place, which they share with Sea Horses M. Shimane SM will play against league's leader Ryukyu in Okinawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hiroshima D. will play at home against Toyama G. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
