Australia eked out a 34-33 halftime lead. But they stepped on the gas in the second half. The Aussies unloaded 51 points in the second half and raced to a comfortable victory. Luke Roland (190-G-2009) recorded 26 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists for Australia. William Hamilton (193-F-2009) contributed 16 points for the champions. Yizhaojie Zhang (202-F-2010) answered with 13 points for China. 3-4 PlaceJapan - New Zealand 92-93New Zealand nipped Japan to step onto the pedestal in Mongolia. The Kiwis earned the Bronze medals following a tough win. New Zealand recorded a 24-9 lead after ten minutes. Japan went on a furious second half comeback rally but came up just short of win at the end. Tawhiri Cate (188-G-2009) tossed in 17 points, while Lawson Pryor (187-G-2009) added 12 points for New Zealand. Keiji Koshi (163-PG-2009) answered with 24 points for Japan. 5-6 PlaceSouth Korea - Iran 78-73South Korea clinched the fifth position at the tournament as they held off Iran today. South Korea trailed by 4 points heading into the fourth period. But they ignited a 22-13 rally in the fourth term to snatch the win. Taejoon Park (182-PG-2009) produced 24 points and 17 steals to lead the charge. Yudam Chu (183-PG-2009) and Beomyoun Park (191-F-2009) contributed 14 points apiece for South Korea. Yasin Halabi (2009) hauled in 19 points for Iran. 7-8 PlaceTaiwan - Bahrain 105-103Taiwan outlasted Bahrain to end up in the seventh place in Mongolia. Taiwan claimed a 56-47 halftime advantage. Bahrain drained 34 points in the third term to tie things up. But Taiwan managed to prevail at the end. I-Le Wang (175-PG-2010) accounted for 18 points, while Cheng-Che Hsiao (191-F-2009) had 17 points for Taiwan. Hassan Abdulkadir (2009) replied with 25 points and 18 rebounds for Bahrain. |
