South Korea celebrate Gold in Jakarta - Nov 7, 2015

Taiwan - South Korea 69-78
South Korea are the new U16 Asia Champions! They defeated Taiwan in the championship game to conquer the Gold medals. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) and Park Minwoo (197-C-99) posted 17 points each for the winners. Taiwan eked out a 31:30 halftime lead. But South Korea turned things around in the second half. They used a 28:15 run in the third term to spur ahead. Taiwan narrowed the deficit in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss at the end. Minsuk Shin delivered 16 points for the winners. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) responded with 19 points for Taiwan. Wu Pei-Chia (205-C-99) had 13 points and 20 rebounds in the loss.
3-4 Place
Japan - China 58-80
China stepped onto the pedestal in Jakarta. They edged Japan in the consolation final to clinch the Bronze medals. Therefore China qualified for the U17 World Championship in 2016. Wang Rui (203-F-99) posted 22 points and 9 rebounds to pace the winners. Japan led by two points at the first break 16:14. But China went on a 23:8 run in the second frame to spur ahead. They unloaded 43 points in the second half and cruised to the win. Jie Zu had 20 points for the winning side. Yudai Nishida (188-F-99) responded with 18 points for Japan.

5-6 Place
Philippines - Lebanon 89-74
Philippines finished fifth at the championship. They outgunned Lebanon in the final game in Jakarta. Jonas Tibayan (182-F-99) posted 16 points to lead the winners. Philippines accumulated a 50:34 halftime lead. They maintained the lead throughout the second half and marched to the win. Samjosef Belangel (177-G-99) and Kris Pagsanjan (180-F-99) netted 13 points each for Philippines. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) responded with 28 points for Lebanon.

7-8 Place
Thailand - Kuwait 69-49
Thailand knocked down Kuwait to clinch the 7th position at the tournament. Natthaworn Banchathon (175-F-99) delivered 20 points in the win. Kuwait opened a 24:16 lead after ten minutes. But Thailand held their opponents to just 25 points in the next three quarters and marched to the win. Thanakrit Limjittakorn (181-F-99) delivered 19 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Yousef Husain (188-F-00) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Kuwait.



Taiwan and South Korea reach Final in Jakarta - Nov 6, 2015

SEMIFINALS
Taiwan - Japan 60-57
Taiwan nipped Japan to seal their championship game appearance in Jakarta. Tang Wei-Chieh (190-SF-99) scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the winners. Taiwan opened a 20:12 lead after ten minutes. Japan cut the distance at 2-point mark at the interval 26:24. Taiwan stretched the lead at 9-point mark at the final intermission. Japan sank 23 points in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Han Chieh-Yu (195-PF-99) and Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) netted 11 points each for the winners. Seiya Takahara (180-G-99) responded with 12 points for Japan.

China - South Korea 84-90
South Korea advanced into the Final. They upset China in the semifinal clash tonight. Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) stepped up with 30 points for the Korean side. China enjoyed a 46:43 halftime lead. But South Korea unleashed 47 points in the second half and snatched a valuable victory. Shin Minsuk (197-C-99) provided 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Wang Rui (203-F-99) responded with 20 points for China.
5-8 Place
Lebanon - Kuwait 79-56
Lebanon toppled Kuwait to set up the clash versus Philippines for the fifth overall position at the championship. Five players scored in double figures for the winners. Lebanon accumulated a 38:33 halftime lead. Lebanon drained 41 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) and Karim Zeinoun (188-F-99) came up with 15 points each for the winners. Yousef Husain (188-F-00) responded with 18 points and 13 rebounds for Kuwait.

Thailand - Philippines 46-81
Philippines outgunned Thailand in the classification round. Five players scored in double digits for the winners. Juan Gomez De Liano (180-F-99) provided 16 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Philippines grabbed a 56:25 halftime lead. They held Thailand to just 21 points in the second half and marched to the win. Ralph Escalona (176-G-00) provided 11 points in the victory. Indonesia - Iraq 56-71
Iraq beat Indonesia to occupy the 9th overall position at the tournament. Abdullah Abdullah (187-F-00) tallied 32 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals to pace the winning side. Iraq built a 35:31 halftime advantage. They dropped 36 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Sajjad Al-Saedi (190-PF-99) netted 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Iraqi team. Andre Rizqiano (180-SF-99) responded with 12 points for Indonesia.

11-12 Place
Bahrain - Malaysia 84-87
Malaysia clinched the 11th position at the championship. They overcame Bahrain in the final game at the tournament. Kok Shen Lim (174-G-99) scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to pace the winners. Bahrain eked out a 45:43 halftime lead. But Malaysia went on a 21:12 run in the third term to spur ahead. Bahrain unloaded 27 points in the final period but could not avoid the defeat. Joon Kang Lee tossed in 15 points for the winners. Mohamed Abdulkarim (188-PF-99) and Fadhel Abdulhasain responded with 18 points each for Bahrain.

China had little trouble advancing into the semifinal stage of the championship. They rallied past Kuwait in the quarterfinal clash today. Six players scored in double digits for China. Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) delivered 19 points to topscore for the winners. China accounted for a 54:25 halftime lead. They followed with a 29:5 run in the fourth term and coasted to the victory. Wu Yujia (200-F-99) dropped 17 points in the win. Mohammad Hasan (194-C-00) responded with 14 points for Kuwait.

Japan - Philippines 73-66
Japan fired past Philippines to reach the semifinal stage in Jakarta. Yudai Nishida netted 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the victory. Japan accumulated a 46:30 halftime lead. They boosted the gap at 18-point mark at the final intermission. Taiga Kagitomi (192-F-99) notched 16 points for the winners. Lebanon - South Korea 79-105

South Korea piled up a comfortable 47:32 halftime lead. They unleashed 37 points in the fourth quarter and marched to the victory. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) tossed in 24 points for the winners. Taiwan - Thailand 88-39
Taiwan cruised past Thailand to book the semifinal place. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) netted 18 points in the victory. Taiwan accumulated a 41:25 halftime lead. Iraq - Malaysia 75-49

Indonesia held off Bahrain to set up the clash for the ninth position at the home championship. They overcame Bahrain in a highly contest battle tonight. Bahrain - South Korea 69-90
South Korea thumped Bahrain to wrap up the Second Stage campaign. Seomoon Sechan (180-F-00) came up with 20 points to pace the Korean team. They built a massive 49:22 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. Shin Minsuk (197-C-99) tossed in 18 points for the winning side. Philippines - China 78-72
Philippines held off China to finish in the second place in Group F. Gian Mamuyac (180-G-99) scored 22 points to pace the winning side. Philippines piled up a 39:33 halftime lead. Indonesia trailed by four points after the opening frame. However the hosts spurred ahead for a 40:34 halftime lead. They drained 41 points in the second half and sealed the win. Lebanon - Japan 84-70
Lebanon recorded yet another win in Group E. They beat Japan for 3-1 record. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) stepped up wih 23 points to pace the Lebanese youngsters. Lebanon accumulated a 48:34 halftime lead. They maintained the lead throughout the second half and marched to the win. Charbel Saad (196-PF-99) provided 22 points and 16 rebounds in the victory. Taiwan - Kuwait 80-67

South Korea - Philippines 77-74
South Korea improved at 3-1 record in Group F. They held off Philippines behind 22 points from Lee Hyunjung (192-F-00). South Korea piled up a 42:37 halftime lead. Philippines remained perfect in Jakarta. They held off Iraq to take 3-0 record on top of Group F. Gian Mamuyac (180-G-99) posted 16 points for the winning side. Philippines accounted for a 40:33 halftime lead. They boosted the margin at 16-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. Malaysia - Kuwait 66-81
Kuwait earned the first victory in Group A. They upset Malaysia to earn the second position. Yousef Husain (188-F-00) scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the winners. Kuwait piled up a 46:34 halftime lead. They went on a 17:9 run in the third term to clear off for good. Mohammad Hasan (194-C-00) chipped in 18 points for the winners. Hong Kong - Japan 51-86
Japan finished the preliminary round undefeated. They rallied past Hong Kong to clinch top position in Group A. Yudai Nishida (188-F-99) scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to pace the winners. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) came up with 33 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Taiwan opened a 35:31 halftime lead. They triggered a 23:11 rally in the fourth quarter and iced the victory. Tang Wei-Chieh (190-SF-99) tossed in 11 points for Taiwan. Aldy Rachman (190-C-00) responded with 12 points for Indonesia.

Thailand - Bahrain 65-58
Thailand held off Bahrain to improve at 2-1 record in Group C. Natthaworn Banchathon (175-F-99) stepped up with 28 points for the Thai youngsters. Thailand recorded a comfortable 21:7 lead ten minutes into the game. They protected the lead well throughout the rest of the encounter cruising to the victory. Jdar Sonsem (192-C-99) finished with 12 points for Thailand. Mohamed Almajed responded with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Bahrain.

Group D
South Korea - China 65-91
China cruised past South Korea to capture the top spot in Group D. Li Xiangbo (203-F-99) paced well-balanced effort with 18 points and 8 rebounds for China. South Korea enjoyed a 23:19 lead ten minutes into the game. However China turned things around in the next two periods. They erupted for 53 points in the second and third period and got away with the victory. Wu Yujia (200-F-99) and Rongzhen Zhu netted 17 points each for the winners. Myeongjin Seo responded with 13 points for South Korea.

Iraq - India 90-69
Iraq advanced into the Second Stage of the tournament following a vital win over India in Group D. Abdullah Abdullah (187-F-00) was unstoppable for the Iraqis tallying 39 points and 6 rebounds. Iraq piled up a 49:36 halftime lead. They boosted the gap at 31-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. Taiwan continued to pile up victories at the championship. They overcame Lebanon for 2-0 record on top of Group B. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) chipped in 27 points for the winners. Taiwan accounted for a 34:16 lead after the opening frame. Lebanon unloaded 29 points in the second frame to pull within 7 points at the interval. Philippines - Thailand 70-51
Philippines remained unbeaten in Group C. They fired past Thailand for the second victory. Samjosef Belangel (177-G-99) and Kris Pagsanjan (180-F-99) came up with 10 points each for Philippines. They eked out a 30:27 halftime lead. Philippines went on a 28:9 run in the third term and cleared off for good. Jonas Tibayan (182-F-99) had 9 points in the win. Thanakrit Limjittakorn (181-F-99) responded with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Thailand.

China - Iraq 67-56
China held off pesky Iraq to take 2-0 record in Group D. Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) tossed in 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the winning side. China led by just a single point at the interval 24:23. But they used a 25:15 run in the third term to build an unassailable 11-point lead at the final intermission. Wang Rui (203-F-99) banked in 17 points for China. Abdullah Abdullah (187-F-00) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds for Iraq.

India - South Korea 85-104
South Korea toppled India for the second consecutive victory in Jakarta. Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) stepped up with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the Korean team. South Korea raced off to a 48:36 halftime lead. India drained 32 points in the third term to get within 8 points. But South Korea answered with a 28-point effort in the fourth quarter and iced the victory. Seomoon Sechan (180-F-00) had 22 points for the winners. They boosted the margin in the third term. They extended the gap at 23-point lead at the final intermission. Hong Kong narrowed the deficit in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Four players scored in double digits as Lebanon upset hosting Indonesia in Jakarta. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) tossed in 16 points to pace the winners. Lebanon accounted for a 43:27 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 22-point mark heading into the fourth frame. Lebanon held the hosts to just 11 points in the final period and raced to the win. But South Korea responded with a massive 29:13 run in the third term to pull ahead. They followed with a 31-point effort in the fourth frame and rallied to the win. China cruised past India in the opening game in Jakarta. Rongqu Huang stepped up with 22 points to pace the winners. China poured in 66 points in the first half to take a 33-point halftime lead. China erupted for 50 points in the second half and marched to the win. Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) provided 14 points for the winners. Baladhaneshwar Poiyamozhi responded with 18 points for India.
