Kazakhstan - Saudi Arabia 53-49 Kazakhstan held off Saudi Arabia to open win count in Group D. Saudi Arabia went on a 22-12 run in the third term to post a 4-point lead. But Kazakhstan limited their opponents to just 7 points in the fourth quarter and raced to the victory. Aman Tlembay (2009) recorded 23 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Kazakh side. Adam Baltaji (2010) replied with 11 points for Saudi Arabia. Iran - Japan 67-86 Japan outscored Iran to gain the third consecutive win in Group D. Japan used a 46-31 second half rally to ice the victory. Chusonjakku Shiratani (194-2009) posted 24 points and 16 rebounds, while Zen Hawkins (192-F-2009) added 20 points and 12 rebounds for Japan. Alireza Rashidi (2009) had 22 points for Iran. Australia - Lebanon 73-61 Australia earned the third straight win in Group A as they toppled Lebanon. Australia recorded a 41-34 halftime advantage. They held Lebanon to just 27 points in the second half to race to the win. Isaiah Jorgenson (198-F-2009) finished with 20 points, while Tom Dammers (187-G-2009) added 16 points for Australia. Johnny Sawma (184-PG-2009) replied with 22 points for Lebanon. Malaysia - Mongolia 79-57 Malaysia opened win count at the tournament as they upset hosting Mongolia. Malaysia posted a 38-28 halftime lead. They followed with a 27-9 rally in the third term to ensure the decisive lead. Cameron Tan (187-F-2009) came up with 23 points, while Mikel Kingsley (178-PG-2009) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Sukhbat Batnyam replied with 18 points for Mongolia. India - Bahrain 80-111 Bahrain stormed past India to clinch the second position in Group A. Bahrain dominated from start to finish. They established a 53-39 halftime lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Hassan Abdulkadir (2009) recorded 31 points and 21 rebounds, while Somto Onoduenyi (2010) provided 30 points and 18 rebounds in the victory. Arman Arman (187-F-2009) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds for India. New Zealand - Philippines 85-54 New Zealand wrapped up the group stage with a perfect 3-0 record as they stormed past Philippines. The Kiwis looked dominant throughout the game. They recorded a 42-26 halftime advantage. They limited Philippines to just 28 points in the second half and raced to the win. Liam Keogh (194-F-2009) finished with 17 points for New Zealand. Jhustin Hallare (183-G-2009) had 13 points for Philippines. China - South Korea 97-81 China topped South Korea for the third win in a row in Mongolia. Ziyi Zhang stepped up with 21 points and 20 rebounds for China. They trailed by a single point at halftime 44-45. But China triggered a 27-12 rally in the third term to surge ahead for good. Zhang Chunzhi (194-F-2009) topscored with 25 points for China. Taejoon Park (182-PG-2009) had 27 points and 9 assists for South Korea. |
