Rocco Zikarsy stepped up with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Jacob Furphy (193-G-2006) added 15 points for the Aussies. Hamad Mousa (194-F-2006) and Sultan Abuissa (192-C-2005) tossed in 6 points each for Qatar.
Bahrain - India 41-80
India celebrated the first win at the championship as they bruised Bahrain today. India dominated from start to finish. They established a 37-20 halftime lead. India never loosed the grasp in the second half and eased to the victory. Kushal Singh (195-PF-2005) recorded 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Lojendra Singh and Jaideep Rathore (177-PG-2005) had 18 points each for the winners. Hanas Ghareeb responded with 15 points for Bahrain.
Iran - Indonesia 66-37
Iran opened their campaign in Doha on a high note. They trounced Indonesia in Group B. Iran led from start to finish. They piled up a 36-20 halftime lead. Iran held their opponents to just 17 points in the second half and marched to the win. Mohammad Amini (192-G-2006) tossed in 25 points and collected 15 rebounds for Iran. Daniel Delin (185-G-2005) hauled in 7 points for Indonesia.
Philippines - Kuwait 82-45
Philippines outscored Kuwait to take the first win in Doha. Philippines grabbed a 25-9 lead after ten minutes. They went on a strong 39-21 second half rally to seal the win. Zain Mahmood (198-C-2005) posted 16 points, while Jared Bahay added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Adel Alsaied (187-G-2006) replied with 12 points and 9 rebounds for Kuwait.
South Korea - Kazakhstan 89-59
South Korea opened win count in Doha. They cruised past Kazakhstan in the opener. Ku Mingyo (197-C-2005) posted 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. South Korea held their opponents to just 3 points in the second frame to record a 40-22 halftime lead. South Korea then followed with a 30-17 run in the third term to run away with the win eventually. Kang Taehyun (195-F-2005) and Kim Seungwoo (192-F-2005) posted 13 points each for South Korea. Akhan Mukhazhanov (195-C-2005) answered with 12 points for Kazakhstan.
