FINALTaiwan - South Korea 69-78South Korea are the new U16 Asia Champions! They defeated Taiwan in the championship game to conquer the Gold medals. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) and Park Minwoo (197-C-99) posted 17 points each for the winners. Taiwan eked out a 31:30 halftime lead. But South Korea turned things around in the second half. They used a 28:15 run in the third term to spur ahead. Taiwan narrowed the deficit in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss at the end. Minsuk Shin delivered 16 points for the winners. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) responded with 19 points for Taiwan. Wu Pei-Chia (205-C-99) had 13 points and 20 rebounds in the loss. 3-4 PlaceJapan - China 58-80China stepped onto the pedestal in Jakarta. They edged Japan in the consolation final to clinch the Bronze medals. Therefore China qualified for the U17 World Championship in 2016. Wang Rui (203-F-99) posted 22 points and 9 rebounds to pace the winners. Japan led by two points at the first break 16:14. But China went on a 23:8 run in the second frame to spur ahead. They unloaded 43 points in the second half and cruised to the win. Jie Zu had 20 points for the winning side. Yudai Nishida (188-F-99) responded with 18 points for Japan. 5-6 PlacePhilippines - Lebanon 89-74Philippines finished fifth at the championship. They outgunned Lebanon in the final game in Jakarta. Jonas Tibayan (182-F-99) posted 16 points to lead the winners. Philippines accumulated a 50:34 halftime lead. They maintained the lead throughout the second half and marched to the win. Samjosef Belangel (177-G-99) and Kris Pagsanjan (180-F-99) netted 13 points each for Philippines. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) responded with 28 points for Lebanon. 7-8 PlaceThailand - Kuwait 69-49Thailand knocked down Kuwait to clinch the 7th position at the tournament. Natthaworn Banchathon (175-F-99) delivered 20 points in the win. Kuwait opened a 24:16 lead after ten minutes. But Thailand held their opponents to just 25 points in the next three quarters and marched to the win. Thanakrit Limjittakorn (181-F-99) delivered 19 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Yousef Husain (188-F-00) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Kuwait. |
