Taiwan and South Korea reach Final in Jakarta

SEMIFINALS
Taiwan - Japan 60-57
Taiwan nipped Japan to seal their championship game appearance in Jakarta. Tang Wei-Chieh (190-SF-99) scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the winners. Taiwan opened a 20:12 lead after ten minutes. Japan cut the distance at 2-point mark at the interval 26:24. Taiwan stretched the lead at 9-point mark at the final intermission. Japan sank 23 points in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Han Chieh-Yu (195-PF-99) and Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) netted 11 points each for the winners. Seiya Takahara (180-G-99) responded with 12 points for Japan.

China - South Korea 84-90
South Korea advanced into the Final. They upset China in the semifinal clash tonight. Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) stepped up with 30 points for the Korean side. China enjoyed a 46:43 halftime lead. But South Korea unleashed 47 points in the second half and snatched a valuable victory. Shin Minsuk (197-C-99) provided 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Wang Rui (203-F-99) responded with 20 points for China.
5-8 Place
Lebanon - Kuwait 79-56
Lebanon toppled Kuwait to set up the clash versus Philippines for the fifth overall position at the championship. Five players scored in double figures for the winners. Lebanon accumulated a 38:33 halftime lead. Lebanon drained 41 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Salim Alaaeddine (188-SG-99) and Karim Zeinoun (188-F-99) came up with 15 points each for the winners. Yousef Husain (188-F-00) responded with 18 points and 13 rebounds for Kuwait.

Thailand - Philippines 46-81
Philippines outgunned Thailand in the classification round. Five players scored in double digits for the winners. Juan Gomez De Liano (180-F-99) provided 16 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Philippines grabbed a 56:25 halftime lead. They held Thailand to just 21 points in the second half and marched to the win. Ralph Escalona (176-G-00) provided 11 points in the victory. Natthaworn Banchathon (175-F-99) responded with 9 points for Thailand.
9-10 Place
Indonesia - Iraq 56-71
Iraq beat Indonesia to occupy the 9th overall position at the tournament. Abdullah Abdullah (187-F-00) tallied 32 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals to pace the winning side. Iraq built a 35:31 halftime advantage. They dropped 36 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Sajjad Al-Saedi (190-PF-99) netted 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Iraqi team. Andre Rizqiano (180-SF-99) responded with 12 points for Indonesia.
11-12 Place
Bahrain - Malaysia 84-87
Malaysia clinched the 11th position at the championship. They overcame Bahrain in the final game at the tournament. Kok Shen Lim (174-G-99) scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to pace the winners. Bahrain eked out a 45:43 halftime lead. But Malaysia went on a 21:12 run in the third term to spur ahead. Bahrain unloaded 27 points in the final period but could not avoid the defeat. Joon Kang Lee tossed in 15 points for the winners. Mohamed Abdulkarim (188-PF-99) and Fadhel Abdulhasain responded with 18 points each for Bahrain.
