China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan reach semifinal stage in Jakarta

Quarterfinals
China - Kuwait 103-42
China had little trouble advancing into the semifinal stage of the championship. They rallied past Kuwait in the quarterfinal clash today. Six players scored in double digits for China. Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) delivered 19 points to topscore for the winners. China accounted for a 54:25 halftime lead. They followed with a 29:5 run in the fourth term and coasted to the victory. Wu Yujia (200-F-99) dropped 17 points in the win. Mohammad Hasan (194-C-00) responded with 14 points for Kuwait.

Japan - Philippines 73-66
Japan fired past Philippines to reach the semifinal stage in Jakarta. Yudai Nishida netted 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the victory. Japan accumulated a 46:30 halftime lead. They boosted the gap at 18-point mark at the final intermission. Taiga Kagitomi (192-F-99) notched 16 points for the winners. Samjosef Belangel (177-G-99) provided 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss.

Lebanon - South Korea 79-105
South Korea fired past Lebanon to seal their semifinal appearance in Jakarta. Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) came up with impressive 36 points to pace the winners. South Korea piled up a comfortable 47:32 halftime lead. They unleashed 37 points in the fourth quarter and marched to the victory. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) tossed in 24 points for the winners. Karim Zeinoun responded with 32 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for Lebanon.

Taiwan - Thailand 88-39
Taiwan cruised past Thailand to book the semifinal place. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) netted 18 points in the victory. Taiwan accumulated a 41:25 halftime lead. They held Thailand to just 14 points in the second half and marched to the win. Tang Wei-Chieh (190-SF-99) had 17 points in the victory. Natthaworn Banchathon (175-F-99) responded with 12 points for Thailand.
9-12 Place
Iraq - Malaysia 75-49
Iraq defeated Malaysia in the classification round today. Abdullah Abdullah (187-F-00) posted 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Iraq piled up a 33:25 halftime lead. They followed with a strong 42:24 second half run to ice the victory. Sajjad Al-Saedi (190-PF-99) netted 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the winners. Kok Shen Lim (174-G-99) responded with 17 points for Malaysia.

Indonesia - Bahrain 82-81
Indonesia held off Bahrain to set up the clash for the ninth position at the home championship. They overcame Bahrain in a highly contest battle tonight. Juan Maulana (180-SG-99) posted 15 points and 7 assists to pace the winners. Bahrain accumulated a 40:36 halftime lead. But Indonesia went for 46 points in the second half and snatched a narrow win at the end. Mohamad Noor had 15 points, while Andre Rizqiano (180-SF-99) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Baqer Ali (171-PG-00) responded with 17 points and 6 steals for Bahrain.
