Taiwan - Philippines 72-77
Philippines clinched a tough victory over Taiwan in the U16 Asia Championship semifinal. Philippines will now take on China for the trophy. Jose Lorenzo Mendoza (175-PG-98) scored 28 points to pace the winners. Taiwan will take on Japan in the consolation final. Philippines earned a 23:17 lead after the opening ten minutes. But Taiwan cut the distance to 5 points at the interval 37:42. Taiwan took over in the third period. They went on a 22:12 rally to secure a 5-point advantage at the final break. Taiwan led by one 72:71 with under two minutes remaining. But Philippines capped the regulation with 6 straight points to secure the winning outcome. Michael Joseph Nieto (188-C-97) secured 17 points and 14 boards, while Joseph Matthew Nieto added 11 points in the win. Tu Ssu-Han (177-G-97) and Hsu Cheng-Shun replied with 14 points each for Taiwan.

China - Japan 99-78
China reach the Final as they overcame Japan at the U16 Asia Championship. The Chinese side grabbed a 99:78 win and remained undefeated at the tournament. China was the favorite of the game and posted a 20-4 lead in the first 5 minutes. They had 32:21 advantage after the first 10 minutes and led 41:32 after 15 minutes. China made the push at the end of the half and reached 58:37 lead at the halftime, while the board showed 73:44 lead for China midway through the third period. Japan managed to reply with a 29-22 rally and reduced to final 21 points. Zhao Ye top-scored for the winners with 32 points and Hu Jinqiu (208-C-97) nailed 22. Yuan Zheliang poured in 12, whilst Fu Hao collected 10 points and 10 rebounds. Rui Hachimura (197-C-98) answered with 25 points in the losing effort and Nomi Yuto netted 16. Taira Shogo poured in 12 and Igarashi Seiya scored 8.

11-12 Place
India - Syria 81-67
India recorded victory in their final game at the U16 Asian Championship. They overcame Syria to occupy the 11th overall position. Mahipal Singh (181-G-97) stepped up with 19 points and 9 rebounds to pace the winners. India got to a confident start. They went on a 22:10 run in the first ten minutes. India stretched the gap in the second quarter. They accumulated a 43:26 halftime advantage. Things got just worse for Syria in the third term. They faced a 22-point deficit before the fourth period. Syria managed to narrow the gap in the final term but could not avoid the defeat. Jaipal Maan (185-SG-97) netted 14 points, while Vishal Gupta (198-C-98) posted 12 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Ronaldo Shammas (168-PG-97) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Syria. Mohammad Hadri had 12 points in the loss.

5-8 Place
Kazakhstan - South Korea 75-88
South Korea roll over Kazakhstan in Tehran at the Classification Round of the U16 Asia Championship. South Korea needed an 88:75 win and will play for the 5th place against Iran tomorrow. Bahrain meanwhile will take on Kazakhstan in the game for 7-8 places. South Korea posted a 26:17 lead at the end of the first period and led 37:24 midway through the second frame. They had 10-point advantage at the halftime and later led 70:51 after 30 minutes. Kazakhstan looked better in the last stanza and managed to reduce to final 13 points. Park Minuk top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Kwon Hyeokjoon as well as Park Sangkwon had 18 each. Yun Wongsang (179-G-98) followed them with 7 points in a win. Neff Konstantin and Litvinenko Andrey replied with 19 points each in defeat. Leonid Voronushkin (185-G-97) scored 11, whilst Satkeyev Aimurat added 9.

Bahrain - Iran 56-79
The hosts surprise Bahrain at the Classification Round of the U16 Asia Championship. Iran overcame the opponents 79:56 and will play for the 5th place tomorrow against South Korea. Bahrain meanwhile will take on Kazakhstan in the game for 7-8 places. The teams were tied at 6:6, while Bahrain won the first period 13:10. They increased to 23:14 midway through the second frame and had 27:19 halftime advantage. Iran however erupted with a 22-3 surge and took 41:30 lead at the third period. They never looked behind after and reached the necessary win. Baban Barzin stepped up with 22 points, while Seyedi Seyed Abolfazl, Soheil Farhadi Chalabeh (180-G-97) and Poat Kisomi Amirhossein nailed 12 each. Sheikhi Mobin followed them with 11 points in a win. Mohamed Juma (192-F-97) answered with 29 points in the losing effort and Kadhem Sayed notched 11. Hasan Sadiq produced 8 points in a loss.

9-10 Place
Malaysia - Jordan 86-80
Malaysia wrapped up their U16 Asia Championship campaign with victory. They outscored Jordan to clinch the 9th overall position in the ladder. Liang Chuan Yek and Wei Jie Tan netted 21 points each for the winners. Malaysia and Jordan exchanged baskets throughout intense first quarter. The scoreboard read 19:19 after ten minutes. Jordan pulled in front in the second period. They snatched a 40:36 halftime lead. Jordan dominated in the third term. They opened a 7-point lead into the fourth quarter 64:57. Malaysia responded with a 29-point outburst in the final stanza as they stole a narrow victory. Ting Jun Foo (170-G-97) notched 11 points, 6 boards and 5 assists in the win. Yaseed Hijazi responded with 28 points for Jordan. Mohammad Daher (185-SG-97) had 22 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

If you love basketball, you would probably have seen some of the live matches at the FIBA Asia U16. The tournament was packed with some great talent and some nailbiting finishes and made for some great watch. Australia celebrate title in Foshan - 6 months ago
FINAL China - Australia 67-91 Australia celebrate Gold in Foshan. They knocked down hosting China in the title game tonight. Luke Travers (197-G-01) provided 22 points and 8 rebounds for the champions. Wani Swaka (198-F-01) tossed in 21 points in the win. China posted a 23:17 lead after ten minutes.
