Second Stage: China and Taiwan improved to 4-0 records in their groups

Group E

Iran - China 51-77
China roll over Iran in Tehran to remain undefeated at the U16 Asia Championship. China produced a 77:51 win for 4-0 record in Group E. Iran meanwhile fell at 2-2 record. China took the lead at the start of the game and grabbed 24-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. Iran reduced to 4 midway through the second frame, while China took 34:25 advantage. The latter increased to 46:31 in the middle of the third period and had 61:38 after 30 minutes of the game. They kept the winning tempo in the last stanza and won the game by 26 points. Hu Jinqiu top-scored for the winners with 33 points and 21 rebounds, while Fu Hao netted 16. Luo Yongxuan (190-SG-97) produced 8 points in a win. Seyed Abolfazl Seyedi (177-PG-98) ended up with 10 points in a loss, while Soheil Farhadi Chalabeh (180-G-97) and Nasiri Rineh Ali notched 9 each. Azari Amirhossein poured in 7 points in defeat.

Malaysia - Bahrain 83-94
Bahrain pip Malaysia in Group E to take 2-2 record. They needed a 94:83 win on Sunday. Malaysia meanwhile dropped at 0-4 record at the bottom of the group. Malaysia grabbed 11-9 lead after the first 5 minutes, of the game while Bahrain took 24:17 lead at the end of the first period. They erupted for 42:27 lead midway through the second period and enjoyed a 54:35 halftime advantage. Malaysia did their best to recover and managed to come closer to the opponent. They reduced to final 11 points after a final push at the end of the game. Mohamed Juma (192-F-97) was unstoppable with 25 points and 20 rebounds, while Sadiq Hasan (185-F-97) followed him with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Ghazwan Mohamed notched 21 and Kadhem Sayed brought 8. Heng Yee Tong finished the game with 19 points in a loss, whilst Ting Jun Foo (170-G-97) produced 18 points and 10 rebounds. Chong Koon Wei nailed 16, whilst Zi Feung Chang (194-C-97) and Soong Kah An scored 8 each.

South Korea - Syria 116-82
South Korea stun Syria in Day 5 opener of the U16 Asia Championship. They posted a 116:82 win for 3-1 record in Group E. Syria meanwhile fell at 1-3 record. South Korea opened the game with a 30-19 lead and added 25-19 run in the second period. South Korea continued their dominance in the rest of the game and also won the third and the last stanzas. They needed a 29-123 run in the third quarter and finished the game with 31-21 surge. Yang Jae Hyuk tops-cored for the winners with 26 points and Choi Jaehwa nailed 24. Park Sangkwon delivered 19, whilst Kwon Hyeokjoon brought 18. Khalel Khori (186-C-98) ended up with 19 points in defeat and Karl Egho (175-F-97) produced 13. Diab Mayar notched 12, whilst Mohammad Hadri (188-C-97) collected 11 point and 13 boards.

Group F

Kazakhstan - India 65-68
India outscore Kazakhstan in Tehran for the initial win in Group F of the U16 Asia Championship. They needed a 68:65 win and improved to 1-3 record. Kazakhstan remained winless and dropped at 0-4 record. Both teams entered the game without victories. Kazakhstan took 13-11 lead at the end of the first period and led 2 points also at the halftime. India needed a massive 22-11 surge in the third period and took 9-point advantage after 30 minutes of the game. Kazakhstan did their best to recover and tied the game at 65:65 as Neff Konstantin nailed a three-pointer. Singh Mahipal however replied with 2+1 points and brought the victory for India. Singh Mahipal led the way with 22 points and Sunil notched 16. Tudu Akhilesh produced 11, whilst Kanderiya Yogesh had 6. Valentin Kirilin (176-PG-97) replied with 15 points in defeat and Ruslan Aitkali (187-F-97) scored 12. Neff Konstantin collected 11 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Leonid Voronushkin (185-G-97) had 10.

Philippines - Japan 94-76
Philippines beat Japan to tie both records at 3-1 in Group F at the U16 Asia Championship. Philippines handed Japan their first 94:76 loss at the tournament. Philippines won the first period 23-16 and added 19-18 in the second period. They led 42:34 at the halftime and then increased to 57:41 early in the third period. The board showed 78:53 after 30 minutes of the game and then Philippines celebrated a 94:76 win as Japan posted a 23-16 rally in the last stanza. Hayato Maki (187-F-97) made two free throws at the end of the game to become the top-score of his team. Nieto Michael Joseph top-scored for the winners with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Desiderio Andres Paul had 19. Mendoza Jose Lorenzo produced 16 and Nieto Joseph Matthew put up 13. Hayato Maki ended up with 16 points in a loss, whilst Hayashi Yutaro had 15. Rui Hachimura (197-C-98) collected 11 points and 11 rebounds, whilst Nomi Yuto notched 10.

Taiwan - Jordan 81-68
Taiwan improved to 4-0 record in Group F of the U16 Asia Championship. They edged Jordan 81:68 on Sunday action. The latter fell at 1-3 record in the group. Taiwan did not waste time and started the game with a 24-13 lead after the first 10 minutes. They led 9 points at the halftime and increased to 59:48 midway through the third period. Taiwan enjoyed a 69:49 lead after thirty minutes and was satisfied with the final 14-point victory. Tu Ssu-Han (177-G-97) stepped up with 18 points for the winners and Chang Chun-Ting poured in 16. Wu Yen-Ju (180-PG-97) netted 11 and Huang Chien-Chih shot 10. Hijazi Yaseed replied with 19 points in the losing effort and Mohammad Daher (185-SG-97) notched 17. Abuaboud Khaled collected massive 10 points and 23 rebounds, while Mohammad Allat (194-F-97) chipped in with 7.
