Al Ahly welcomes back Fakuade

Michael Fakuade

Defending champion Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) tabbed experienced 34-year old American (has also Nigerian passport) 201cm forward Michael Fakuade (college: UIS) for Arab tournament  . 

It is actually his comeback to Cairo as he has played here before. Fakuade played most recently at Kagoshima in Japanese B3 League. In 27 games he averaged 14.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg last season.

He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in six different countries playing on four different continents. Fakuade is familiar with European, Asian, African and of course North American leagues. 

He has played previously professionally in France (Chalons Reims and Entente Orleans 45), Germany (ETB Miners and Hannover Tigers), Hungary (Arconic-Alba), Poland (Wilki Morskie), Spain (Rio Breogan, Palencia, Lleida and Gipuzkoa) and Egypt (Zamalek).

Among many awards he played in the final of Arab Club Championship in 2022. Fakuade was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Honorable Mention in 2022.
He graduated from University of Illinois at Springfield in 2012 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball. Fakuade played also for Northern Illinois University for 3 years.
