  April 15, 2001 - ARAB CHAMPIONSHIP FOR CLUBS
 MC Alger (ALG) has been beaten by Egyptians of El Djazira by only one point (69-70) in the Final Game of the Arab Championships for clubs, hosted in Medina (Saudi Arabia). Algerian team, however, has been the true surprise of the tournemnt, havind eliminated in semifinals the favourite team, Al Ahlòy from Cairo, Egypt, 77-62. This has been the second time that MC Alger reached the Final game of the Arab Cup. Previous time has been in 1987, when they lost in final vs another Egyptian club, the Union Alexandria.
