The Alexandrian Al-Ittihad team continued its victories in the Arab Championship by defeating the Moroccan Conquest in the first group competitions of the championship. Al-Ittihad of Alexandria defeated the Moroccan Conquest, 91-81, in the match that was held between them this evening in the second round of Group A competitions, which was held at the Burj Al Arab Hall in Alexandria. The first period ended in a tie between the two teams 17-17, but the Alexandrian team managed to excel in the second period, to win it 43-36.
The leader of Al-Thaghr continued his superiority in the meeting and ended the third period in his favour, with a score of 72-62, before winning the fourth period and the match in his favour, with a score of 91-81. Thus, the Al-Ittihad team, the holder of the Arab Championship title, achieved its second victory in the group, bringing it closer to qualifying for the quarter-finals. Al-Ittihad will face the Algerian team Ittihad Blida, while the Moroccan Al-Fateh will meet with the Yemeni port, and the two matches will be held next Monday. The regulations of the competition stipulate that two teams from the group qualify for the quarter-finals, where the first of the first group meets the second of the second group, while the second of the first meets the first of the second. Al-Ittihad of Alexandria is the most crowned in the Arab Basketball Club Championship with 7 titles, in addition to being the title holder in its last edition 2019 in Morocco.
