DLBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Homentmen is defeated by Antranik in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Antranik (#7) and Homentmen (#5). Homentmen was defeated at home 89-97 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Antranik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. point guard Jeremiah Gambrell Jr (190-2000, college: Alcorn St., agency: 0z Sports Agency) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners and Christian Brown (198-2000, college: Tennessee St.) chipped in 32 points. At the losing side forward Khalid Thomas (208-1999, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Antranik (7-6) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Homentmen. Antranik's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Beirut: Hoops (#5) and Sagesse (#2). Sagesse was defeated at home 94-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. American forward Trazarien White (198, college: TCU) nailed 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Kedrian Johnson accounted for 14 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) came up with 39 points (!!!) (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for Sagesse in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Hoops. They moved-up to fourth place. Sagesse at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Hoops will play against Batroun (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sagesse's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Antranik.
Al Markaziyyah (#4) was upset in Jounieh by eighth ranked Beirut Club 83-73. AJ English fired 40 points (!!!) for the winners. Anyeuri Castillo produced 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Beirut Club. They maintain eighth place with 7-7 record. Al Markaziyyah lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13: NSA won against Tadamon on the opponent's court 87-77. Beirut Club outscored Maristes in a home game 109-77. Batroun lost to undefeated Al Riyadi on the road 72-81.



Tadamon - NSA 77-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Tadamon's (0-13) home loss to eleventh ranked NSA (3-10) 77-87 on Wednesday. NSA outrebounded Tadamon 42-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. NSA looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Serbian guard Petar Rakicevic (204-1995) fired 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Makye Richards (188, college: Xavier, LA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 assists. Four NSA players scored in double figures. American swingman BJ Freeman (198-2002, college: Arizona St.) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Samuel Daniel (203-1996, college: Florida Tech) added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. NSA moved-up to tenth place. Tadamon lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. NSA will meet at home league's leader Al Riyadi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tadamon will play against Maristes (#9) in Dik El Mehdi and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Beirut Club's (7-7) home victory over 9th ranked Maristes (5-8) 109-77 on Thursday. Beirut Club dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Maristes' 38 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Beirut Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Maristes' players. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Tray Jackson (208-2000, college: Michigan) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard AJ English (192-1992, college: Iona) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 assists. Five Beirut Club players scored in double figures. Beirut Club's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Darrious Agnew (203-1999, college: Alcorn St., agency: MSG) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and swingman Marquis Moore (198-1994, college: HPU) added 21 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Not a big story in a game in Beirut where 11th ranked Batroun (2-11) was defeated by leader Al Riyadi (13-0) 81-72 on Saturday. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Maurice Kemp (203-1991, college: ECU) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Anthony Fairley (205-1999, college: Miles, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and forward Ruot Monyyong (210-1998, college: UALR, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) added 17 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side.
