Homentmen defeated Beirut Club at home 104-99. Homentmen made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) who led his team to a victory with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Khalid Thomas (208-1999, college: Portland St.) contributed with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard AJ English (192-1992, college: Iona) answered with 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists for Beirut Club. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Beirut. Al Markaziyyah (3-1) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging Beirut Club (1-3) 81-79 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for American-Dominican forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Elios Saad helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Elijah Thomas (206-1996, college: Clemson) with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Markaziyyah will play against NSA (#6) in the next round. Beirut Club will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Batroun between Hoops and Batroun. Hoops (1-2) got a very close victory on the road over Batroun (0-4). Hoops managed to escape with a 3-point win 70-67 on Friday evening. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for Trazarien White who led the winners and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony Fairley came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for Batroun in the defeat. Batroun's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoops' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Al Riyadi.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Maristes beat Tadamon on the road 89-83. Al Riyadi destroyed NSA on its own court 99-80. Antranik lost to undefeated Sagesse in Beirut 80-90. Homentmen managed to beat Antonine at home 113-107.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds by Tyler Bey of Homentmen.
