LBL Round 6: Beirut Club keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Beirut Club as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Beirut Club smashed 6th ranked Atlas at home 132-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atlas. Beirut Club shot 62.3 percent from the field and made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Beirut Club had a 36-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 54.1 percentage. Beirut Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Atlas' players. American-Georgian guard Michael Dixon (186-1990, college: Memphis) scored 32 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Naim Rabay (206, college: Weatherford JC) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Myles Carter (185-1999, college: Delaware St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Beirut Club (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sagesse. Atlas at the other side keep the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Antranik and NSA.
Undefeated Al Riyadi (4-1) recorded its first loss in Beirut. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Dynamo (4-1) 83-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. The former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-1992, college: Rice) notched 32 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Zach Lofton supported him with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Even 16 points and 9 assists by international guard Ali Mansour (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Al Riyadi. Dynamo moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Al Riyadi.
Bottom-ranked Byblos (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to eighth ranked Antranik (2-3) 86-82 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Omega Harris who scored 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Ameer Jackson who recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds. Antranik moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Atlas and NSA. Loser Byblos still closes the standings with five games lost.

In the last game of round 6 Sagesse won against NSA on the opponent's court 81-64.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Ibrahim Haddad of Byblos.



NSA - Sagesse 64-81

Rather expected game when 6th ranked NSA (2-3) was defeated at home by top-ranked Sagesse (5-0) 81-64 on Thursday. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Cliff Alexander (203-1995, college: Kansas, agency: MSG) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Kerwin Roach II (192-1996, college: Texas) chipped in 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Sagesse's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Isaiah Hammons (194-1997, college: MACU) who recorded 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Anthony Fairley (203-1999, college: Miles) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Sagesse have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Beirut Club. Newly promoted NSA keeps the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Antranik and Atlas.

Dynamo made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Riyadi 43-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. The former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-1992, college: Rice) notched 32 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Zach Lofton (193-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!).
