LBL Round 6: Antranik edge Champville by three points

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the LBL took place in Beirut. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Champville (3-2) to eighth ranked Antranik (3-3) 80-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Champville. The best player for the winners was guard George Yves-Daaboul (178-95) who scored 16 points and 9 assists. Jean-Marc Jarrouge chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was international guard Omar Jamaleddine (193, college: SLC) who recorded 21 points and 4 steals. Antranik moved-up to seventh place. Champville at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Hoops.
Undefeated leader Dynamo delivered the sixth consecutive victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Atlas (2-3) 97-82 in Beirut. It was a good game for international power forward Mohamad Haidar (203-90, college: Michigan Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Jimmy Salem contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Bassel Harfouch (193-93, college: Alcorn St.) replied with 29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Atlas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Dynamo (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dynamo maintains first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Atlas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with three games lost.
Bottom-ranked Homentmen (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-63 loss to fourth ranked Al Riyadi (4-1) in Beirut on Tuesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Ali Mansour scored 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Elios Saad with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Homentmen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Beirut Club and Sagesse. Loser Homentmen still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Anibal.

Rest of the games of round 6 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Sagesse crushed Anibal in Beirut 88-41. Winless Homentmen was smashed by Beirut Club at home 60-97. Al Riyadi destroyed Byblos on the opponent's court 92-52.
The best stats of 6th round was 21 points and 11 rebounds by Mark Alkhoury of Al Riyadi.



Antranik - Champville 80-77

Homentmen - Al Riyadi 63-93

Bottom-ranked Homentmen (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-63 loss to fourth ranked Al Riyadi (4-1) in Beirut on Tuesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. International guard Ali Mansour (185-98) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Jean Abdel Nour (198-83) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Elios Saad (202-1) with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Nader Dhainy scored 7 points and 6 assists. Homentmen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. Anibal - Sagesse 41-88

There was no surprise in Zahle where bottom-ranked Anibal (0-6) was crushed by fourth ranked Sagesse (4-1) 88-41 on Thursday. Sagesse held Anibal to an opponent 19.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Sagesse forced 28 Anibal turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Anibal's players. International Christophe Khalil had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Jad Bitar (204-88) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Sagesse players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Tarek Mitri with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Salim Dirany scored 4 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sagesse moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Riyadi and Beirut Club. Loser Anibal still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Homentmen.

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Beirut Club (4-1) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Homentmen (0-6) 97-60 on Friday. Beirut Club made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Beirut Club outrebounded Homentmen 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Homentmen's players. International forward Hayk Gyokchyan (203-90, college: F&M) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Sergio El Darwich (193-96, college: Maine) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Undefeated leader Dynamo delivered the sixth consecutive victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Atlas (2-3) 97-82 in Beirut. Dynamo made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Dynamo outrebounded Atlas 41-26 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds.
