Atlas - Homentmen 89-69 There was no surprise in Zahle where 9th ranked Homentmen (2-12) was crushed by second ranked Atlas (9-4) 89-69. Atlas players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for point guard Joseph Zaloum (180-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Jean-Marc Jarrouge contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Atlas players scored in double figures. Serouj Avedissian answered with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Omar El Baba added 12 points in the effort for Homentmen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atlas maintains second place with 9-4 record having five points less than leader Al Riyadi, which they share with Champville. Homentmen lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Beirut Club (8-6) to fourth ranked Sagesse (9-5) 78-76 in the game for the fourth place. Sagesse made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Beirut Club turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Nadim Souaid (192-86, agency: BIG) who scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Christophe Khalil chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Elie Chamoun (193-94, agency: BIG) who recorded 26 points and the former international power forward Marwan Ziadeh (202-87) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beirut Club's coach Patrick Saba rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sagesse have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-5 record. Beirut Club at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 98 of its points in the paint compared to Anibal's 34. Champville forced 39 Anibal turnovers and outrebounded them 51-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Anibal's players. It was a good game for the former international guard Joseph Chartouny (190-94, college: Marquette, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists and 7 steals. The former international power forward Jad Bitar (204-88, agency: BIG) contributed with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Champville players scored in double figures. Champville's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ghassan Tacca answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Christopher Maalouf added 15 points in the effort for Anibal. Champville have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Atlas. Anibal at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost.
