The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Velca (40-11) on the court of fifth ranked Sapporo on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Sapporo 82-80. It was a good game for international guard Keisei Tominaga (188-2001, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with 26 points. Filipino guard Dwight Ramos (193-1998, college: CPP) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Sapporo's coach Ryutaro Onodera used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. International Yudai Baba (196-1995) answered with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for Nagasaki. Hokkaido L. maintains fifth place with 32-19 record. Nagasaki at the other side still keeps top position with 11 games lost. Hokkaido L. are looking forward to face league's leader Nagasaki at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nagasaki will have a break next round.
Another exciting game for Sendai 89ers (31-20) which played in Hamamatsu against 5th ranked San-en NP (30-21). Sixth ranked Sendai 89ers won 104-98. It was a great evening for American guard Jarrett Culver (198-1999, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Sergio El Darwich helped adding 21 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 31-20 record. San-en NP at the other side keeps the fifth position with 21 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San-en NP will play at home against Sendai 89ers (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Lakestars' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nassir Little came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for Chiba Jets in the defeat. Lakestars have a solid series of four victories in a row. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sunrockers Sh. Loser Jets dropped to the third position with 17 games lost. They share it with Alvark Tokyo. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chiba Jets will play against Shiga L-Stars and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 51: Koshigaya A. was beaten by Akita NH on the road 94-85. Chiba lost to Yokohama BC on its own court 69-79. Shimane SM unfortunately lost to Alvark Tokyo in a road game 52-65. Gunma CT rolled over Kawasaki at home 97-77. Sunrockers Sh. was defeated by Hiroshima D. on the opponent's court 72-68. Osaka E. beat FE Nagoya in a home game 91-81. Ibaraki R. lost to Ryukyu on the road 64-79. Saga B. managed to outperform Kyoto H. on its own court 90-89. Nagoya DD managed to beat Sea Horses M. in a road game 89-79. Toyama G. lost to defending champion Tochigi Brex at home 66-85.
The most impressive performance of 51th round was 30 points and 10 rebounds by Trey Kell III of Toyama G..




Akita NH - Koshigaya A. 94-85

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Happinets (9-42) beat higher ranked Alphas (17-34) in Akita 94-85 on Saturday. Akita NH outrebounded Koshigaya A. 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for New Zealand-German center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-1994) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Guinean-French Sekou Doumbouya (206-2000) came up with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Filipino-American center Kai Sotto (220-2002) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Koshigaya A. in the defeat. Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Grouses (12-39) were outscored by first ranked Tochigi Brex (38-13) in Toyama 85-66 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Tongan-New Zealand Isaac Fotu (203-1993, college: Hawaii) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Syrian-American guard Trey Kell III (193-1996, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Toyama G. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains first place with 38-13 record. Newly promoted Toyama G. keeps the thirteenth position with 39 games lost. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyama G. will play again against the league's leader Tochigi Brex (#1) and hope to secure a win.
