The game between third ranked Alvark (30-15) and sixth ranked NeoPhoenix (26-19) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Alvark was defeated by NeoPhoenix in Tokyo 83-93. San-en NP shot 60.3 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Yante Maten (201-1996, college: Georgia) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NeoPhoenix have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. San-en NP moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hiroshima D. Alvark Tokyo lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 15 games lost. They share it with Ryukyu. San-en NP will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Alvark Tokyo will play at home against San-en NP and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Dolphins (35-10) against fifth ranked Thunders (29-16) on Saturday night. Host Dolphins were defeated by Thunders in a tough game in Nagoya 79-88. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dolphins. American players dominated the game. Forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 assists for the winners and Trey McKinney-Jones chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Aaron Henry (198-1999, college: Michigan St., agency: Diamond Sports) with 17 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Thunders. Gunma CT moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hokkaido L. Nagoya DD at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Gunma CT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nagoya DD will play at home against Gunma CT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Tochigi Brex (34-11) which played road game in Sapporo against 4th placed Sapporo (29-16). First ranked Tochigi Brex managed to get a 5-point victory 104-99. DJ Newbill nailed 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Keisei Tominaga came up with 36 points (!!!) for Hokkaido L. in the defeat. Sapporo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first place with 34-11 record. Hokkaido L. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Gunma CT. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hokkaido L. will play again against the league's leader Tochigi Brex (#1) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 45: Kyoto H. was beaten by Akita NH on the road 91-80. Chiba lost to Chiba Jets on its own court 71-88. Osaka E. managed to outperform Hiroshima D. in a road game 92-88. Nagasaki managed to beat Sendai 89ers at home 99-94. Shimane SM defeated FE Nagoya on the opponent's court 84-78. Saga B. was beaten by Ibaraki R. in a home game 80-83. Kawasaki lost to Sea Horses M. on the road 60-75. Sunrockers Sh. unfortunately lost to Ryukyu on its own court 85-90. Shiga L-Stars rolled over Toyama G. in a road game 89-64. Yokohama BC defeated Koshigaya A. at home 78-70.
The most impressive performance of 45th round was 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Damien Inglis of Yokohama BC.



Akita NH - Kyoto H. 91-80

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when thirteenth ranked Happinets (8-37) beat 12th ranked Hannaryz (14-31) in Akita 91-80 on Saturday. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. New Zealand-German center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) nailed 18 points for the winning side and point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-1994) accounted for 14 points. Five Happinets players scored in double figures.
