B2 League Regular Season is still in too early stage and there may be still significant changes in the standings. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 4 in the B2 League took place in Matsuyama. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Veltex (1-3) to second ranked Orange Vikings (3-1) 79-76 in the game for the second place. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Ehime looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Shizuoka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch center Matt Haarms (221-1997, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Takumi Furuno (178-1993) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) during the contest. At the losing side Australian center Angus Brandt (208-1989, college: Oregon St.) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Orange Vikings have a solid three-game winning streak. Ehime maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Kobe S., which they share with Fukushima. Shizuoka at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Ehime is looking forward to face Fukuoka R. (#4) on the road in the next round. Shizuoka will play against Bambitious and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Watts (2-2) against seventh ranked Wyverns (1-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Watts were crushed by Wyverns in Yamagata 90-61. The winners were led by American center Noah Waterman (211-2000, college: Louisville) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 6 assists and Shaquille Doorson supported him with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by American center Max Hisatake (203-1998, college: IlIinois Tech, agency: Slash Sports) did not help to save the game for Aomori W.. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wyverns left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Aomori W. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Fukui B.. Yamagata will play against Kumamoto V. (#6) at home in the next round. Aomori W. will play against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rebnise (1-2) against fifth ranked Excellence (2-1) on Monday night. Visiting Rebnise was defeated by Excellence in Yokohama 86-75. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Tray Boyd III fired 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Anthony Gaines Jr produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
