In 2016, he was drafted by the Detroit Pistons (NBA) in the first round, 18th overall. He attended Marquette University, and this is his eighth season in professional basketball. He was also a member of the USA international program for several years. He played for the USA Senior National Team in 2018 and had previously played for the Under 17 National Team in 2014. Five years ago, Ellenson represented the USA at the FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers. His team emerged victorious, clinching the Gold medal. During the event, Ellenson showcased impressive stats, averaging 8.0 points per game, 10.0 rpg, and 2.0 apg over two games. He's a highly experienced player, having played professionally in Spain (Monbus Obradoiro), the NBA (Brooklyn Nets and NY Knicks), as well as in the Spain and NBA G League (Grand Rapids Gold, Raptors 905 Missisauga, and Long Island Nets).
