B2 League Round 12: Kagawa FA defeat Ehime OV in the closest game of the week

After 12 rounds played we can already see who rules in the B2 League and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 12 in the B2 League took place in Takamatsu. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best Ehime OV (10-5) to sixth ranked Kagawa FA (5-10) 93-92 on Thursday evening. Kagawa FA made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Ehime OV helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of British forward Myles Hesson (198-1990, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Kotaro Hisaoka (180-1997) who added 18 points and 9 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Ehime OV's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kagawa FA maintains sixth position with 5-10 record. Ehime OV lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Nagasaki. Third ranked Saga B. (9-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging second-best Nagasaki (9-5) 110-107 in the fight for the second place. The winners were led by Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-1990) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!), 9 assists and 7 steals and Chase Fieler supported him with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) did not help to save the game for Nagasaki. Nagasaki's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Saga B. moved-up to second place, which they share with Kumamoto V. and Nagasaki. Saga B. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nagasaki will play again at home against the league's second-placed Saga B. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-7) against fifth ranked Fukuoka R. (7-7) on Saturday night. Host Nishinomiya S. was defeated by Fukuoka R. in a tough game in Hyogo 65-72. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Marvelle Harris who scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Trey Porter who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fukuoka R. moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Nishinomiya S. Fukuoka R. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play again against Fukuoka R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Bambitious N. was destroyed by Koshigaya A. on the opponent's court 79-53. Kagawa FA was outscored by Ehime OV in a home game 58-79. Chiba rolled over Tokyo Z on the road 98-64. Kumamoto V. defeated Fukushima on its own court 82-77. Aomori W. was beaten by Yamagata in a road game 75-67. Koshigaya A. destroyed Bambitious N. at home 91-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 28 points and 6 rebounds by Justin Harper of Koshigaya A..

Koshigaya A. made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Koshigaya A. outrebounded Bambitious N. 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Harper (208-1989, college: Richmond) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Brekkott Chapman (206-1996, college: Weber St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Ehime OV looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American-German power forward Ryan Kriener (208-1998, college: Iowa) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Ehime OV players scored in double figures. Ehime OV's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian center Angus Brandt (208-1989, college: Oregon St.) who recorded 23 points and 9 rebounds and Australian forward Rhys Vague (206-1996) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Tokyo Z's players. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was power forward Evan Ravenel (204-1989, college: Ohio St.) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Reginald Buckner (206-1991, college: Ole Miss) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and center Joshua Crawford (211-1988, college: Indiana St.) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Chiba maintains second position with 10-4 record having four points less than leader Ehime OV. Tokyo Z at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Chiba will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tokyo Z will play again against the league's second-placed Chiba (#2) and hope to secure a win.
