Mike Lewis II (186-G-1998, college: Duquesne) converted a layup with 8 seconds left in overtime to carry Qatar past Iran in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. He finished with 19 points to lead the hosts as they improved at 2-2 record in Group E.
Iran eked out a 36-31 halftime lead. Qatar narrowed the gap at 3-point mark heading into the fourth frame. Qatar surged ahead late in regulation as Babacar Dieng (196-F-1997) made it 68-65 for the hosts with 21 seconds to go. But Matin Aghajanpour (198-PF-2001) responded with a three-pointer to force overtime. Navid Rezaeifar (193-G-1996) gave Iran a 77-76 lead with 31 seconds remaining in overtime. But Mike Lewis II came up with a decisive bucket to propel the home side to the win. Ndoye Seydou (201-F-1999) provided 14 points in the victory. Sina Vahedi (185-PG-2001, agency: Diamond Sports) answered with 24 points for Iran. Matin Aghajanpour topscored with 31 points for the visitors.
