Japan - Chinese Taipei 94-53

Japan recorded the first win at the 2023 FIBA Asia Cup. They overcame Chinese Taipei in the opener. Stephanie Mawuli (182-C-1998) finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort.
It was a one-way traffic from start to finish. Japan recorded a 21-14 lead after ten minutes. They extended the margin at 9-point mark at the interval 40-31. Japan shifted the gear in the second half. They unloaded 54 points after the big break and cruised to the win. Maki Takada (185-C-1989) and Akaho Himawari (185-SF-1998) had 12 points each for Japan. Yu-Ting Lin (179-F/G-1994) answered with 14 points for Chinese Taipei.
