Japan earned FIBA Asia Cup title. They nipped Australia in the exciting championship game tonight. Saki Mizushima (171-G-91) posted 26 points to lead the champions. Australia surged ahead in the second term. The Opals recorded a 39:33 halftime lead. Japan however turned things around in the second half. They went on a 26:14 run in the third term to take the lead. Australia pulled within striking distance in the final seconds but Japan held on to celebrate the title at the end. Yuki Miyazawa (181-F-93, college: Queens, NY) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds for Japan. Kelsey Griffin (188-F-87, college: Nebraska) delivered 30 points and 15 rebounds for the Opals. Marianna Tolo (196-C-89, agency: ProDep Management) had 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.
3-4 Place
South Korea - China 51-75
China secured the Bronze medals in Division A. They overcame South Korea in the consolation final. Yueru Li (192-C-99) and Sijing Huang (192-F-96) posted 16 points each for the winners. China recorded a 41:34 halftime lead. China followed with a 34:17 run in the second half to seal the win. Meng Li (185-F-95) produced 9 points in the victory. Kang Lee-Seul (180-F-94) responded with 13 points for South Korea.

5-6 Place
New Zealand - Taiwan 45-65
Taiwan knocked down New Zealand to earn the fifth position at the championship. Huang Ping-Jen (177-C/F-89) and Bao Hsi-Le (196-C-90) provided 10 points each for the winning side. Taiwan stunned their opponents in the first period. They recorded a 20:4 lead after ten minutes. Taiwan ignited a 32:26 run in the second half to rally to the victory. Yu-Ting Lin (183-F-94) delivered 9 points in the win. Micaela Cocks (174-G-86, college: Oregon) responded with 10 and 8 rebounds for New Zealand.

7-8 Place
North Korea - Philippines 63-78
Philippines beat North Korea to end up the championship in the seventh position. Allana Lim (175-F-88) came up with 16 points to lead the charge. Philippines used a 29:10 run in the second term to open a 47:23 halftime advantage. North Korea narrowed the deficit in the final term but could not avoid the loss. Analyn Almazan (180-C-88) had 13 points for the winners. Mi Hyang Kim (175-F-92) came up with 20 points for North Korea.
Group B
Fiji - Singapore 65-80
Singapore dropped Fiji to finish their Division B campaign. Lim Zhi (164-PG-96) stepped up with 26 points for the winners. Singapore recorded a 44:24 halftime lead. Fiji narrowed the distance in the fourth quarter but could not avert the loss. Poon Shuwen Cheryl (162-F-87) provided 11 points for Singapore. Miliakere Koyamainavure (175-F-93) had 31 points and 11 rebounds for Fiji.

Uzbekistan - Lebanon 55-59
Lebanon finished third in Division B. They topped Uzbekistan today. Rebecca Akl (169-PG-92) delivered 20 points in the victory. Uzbekistan registered a 13:8 lead after the opening frame. But Lebanon picked up the tempo in the next quarters. Lebanon went on an 18:14 run in the fourth term to snatch the win. Chirine El Charif (185-C-84) had 10 points in the victory. Elena Khusnidinova (178-F-85) tossed in 22 points for Uzbekistan.

Kazakhstan - India 73-75
India earned Division B title. They outscored Kazakhstan in the Final today. Jeena Palanilkumkalayil (178-F-94) delivered 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory. Kazakhstan claimed a 39:31 halftime lead. But India managed to bounce back in the second half. They went on a 25:15 run in the fourth term to snatch the win. Shireen Limaye (187-C-95) tossed in 17 points and pulled down 10 boards for India. Nadezhda Kondrakova (190-C-89) replied with 30 points and 18 rebounds for Kazakhstan.

Japan topped China to advance into the championship game in India. Manami Fujioka (168-G-94) delivered 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Japan posted an 18:15 lead at the first break. China denied the deficit in the second term. They knotted things up at 32 at the interval. China eked out a one-point lead heading into the fourth frame. But Japan turned things around in the final frame. They poured in 20 points in the fourth quarter and snatched a narrow victory. Yuki Miyazawa (181-F-93, college: Queens, NY) delivered 16 points in the win. Ting Shao (183-F-89) dropped 16 points for China.

South Korea - Australia 64-81
Australia outgunned South Korea to seal their title game appearance. Kelsey Griffin (188-F-87, college: Nebraska) recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Opals. Australia accounted for a comfortable 45:30 halftime lead. They controlled the tempo throughout the second half and marched to a well-deserved win at the end. Alanna Smith (190-F-96) delivered 12 points in the victory. Kang Lee-Seul (180-F-94) and Sim Sungyoung (165-PG-92) posted 14 points each for South Korea.

Lebanon - India 69-79
India topped Lebanon to enter the championship game in Division B. Jeena Palanilkumkalayil (178-F-94) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Lebanon recorded a 38:33 halftime advantage. But India managed to turn the tables in the second half. They ignited a 23:11 rally in the fourth period to snatch the win. Kazakhstan - Uzbekistan 77-51

Kazakhstan went on a 23:9 run in the second term to open an 18-point halftime advantage. They followed with a 22:9 rally in the fourth frame to ice the win. They established a 33:30 halftime lead. Japan used a 40:27 run in the second half to ice the victory. Saki Mizushima (171-G-91) recorded 11 points for the winners. Huang Ping-Jen (177-C/F-89) notched 17 points for Taiwan.

China - Philippines 117-43
China cruised past Philippines to advance into the semifinal stage. Yueru Li (192-C-99) produced 17 points and 12 rebounds in the win. China posted a massive 61:15 halftime lead. They erupted for 56 points in the second half to rally to the win. Sijing Huang netted 15 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and issued 5 assists for the winners. Afril Bernardino (165-G-91) responded with 11 points for Philippines.

Australia - North Korea 81-48

New Zealand finished the preliminary round with victory. They outgunned Taiwan for 2-1 record in Group A. Kalani Purcell (188-F-95, college: BYU) posted 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Tall Ferns. Taiwan jumped to a 21:7 lead after ten minutes. Fiji - Singapore 38-103
Singapore secured the winning start to their Division B campaign. They stormed past Fiji. Tan En-Min (170-G/F-89) delivered 21 points for the winners. Singapore accumulated a 60:21 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Shuwen Poon and Jacqueline Chu (163-PG-91) recorded 17 points each in the win. Tiyana Kainamoli (159-PG-98) replied with 9 points and 10 rebounds for Fiji.
