Australia repeated as the Champions at the FIBA Asia Cup 2022. They edged Lebanon 75-73 in the Final of the competition. Australia's winning streak in the Asia Cup now extends to 12 games as they win their second Asia Cup in as many appearances. The favorites grabbed a 22-10 run and led 10 points at the halftime. Moreover, they added a 19-15 rally in the third quarter, whilst Lebanon was too far to give up. They pulled back with a 30-18 run in the last stanza, however fell short in the game.
Thon Maker (216-C-1997) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and Mitchell McCarron (189-G-1992, college: MSU Denver) poured in 12. Wael Arakji (194-G-1994) delivered 28 points in a loss, whilst Mohamad Haidar (203-F/C-1990, college: Michigan Tech) produced 23.
