Australia - Japan 99-85

Australia edged Japan 99-85 at the FIBA Asia Cup and reached semifinals. The defending champions grabbed a 33-22 lead at the start and added a 16-12 rally in the second period. Moreover, they added a 26-20 run in the third frame and did not mind a narrow 24-31 loss at the end of the game.
Thon Maker (216-C-1997) stepped up with 21 points and Rhys Vague (206-F-1996) delivered 19. Samson Froling (212-C/F-2000, college: Creighton) followed them with 15 points in the winning effort. Keisei Tominaga (187-G-2001) replied with 33 points in a loss and Yuki Togashi (170-PG-1993) scored 14.
