CBA top team - Guangsha Lions (17-3) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Eagles (12-8) in Qingdao 93-84. Guangsha L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The former international center Jinqiu Hu (211-1997) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-1996, college: MSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists for Qingdao E.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-3 record. Qingdao E. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Guangsha L. are looking forward to face Shandong H. (#4) in Jinan in the next round. Qingdao E. will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Blue Whales is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 20th consecutive match to fourteenth ranked Flying Leopards (9-11) 109-57. It was a great evening for American power forward Eric Moreland (208-1991, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Dezmine Wells helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Ruiqi Duan (191-2006) responded with 15 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liaoning moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ningbo R. and Beijing. Sichuan at the other side still closes the standings. Liaoning will play against Ningbo R. (#12) on the road in the next round. Sichuan will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Taiyuan between Ducks and Loongs. Fifth ranked Ducks (13-7) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Loongs (10-10). Ducks managed to escape with a 1-point win 87-86 on Monday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Eugene German who led the winners and scored 21 points. Hamidou Diallo came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for Shanxi L. in the defeat. Loongs' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Beijing D. maintains fifth place with 13-7 record, which they share with Shenzhen L. Shanxi L. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Beijing D. will meet Tianjin P. (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shanxi L. will play against Zhejiang GB. (#8) in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 23: Jilin NE T. was beaten by Beijing on the road 87-84. Guangdong ST won against Tianjin P. on its own court 98-89. Xinjiang unfortunately lost to Nanjing in Jiangsu 97-98. Shandong H. rolled over Ningbo R. at home 99-75. Guangzhou was defeated by Shanghai on the opponent's court 95-78. Shenzhen L. smashed Fujian S. in a home game 106-77. Jiangsu D. was destroyed by Zhejiang GB. on the road 89-69.

Beijing RF - Jilin NE T. 87-84

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifteenth ranked Royal Fighters (9-11) edged 14th ranked Jilin Tigers (8-13) in Beijing 87-84 on Monday. Beijing dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Jilin Tigers's 34. Beijing looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Yuchen Zou (206-1996) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. American Grant Riller (189-1997, college: Charleston) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. American forward DJ Wilson (208-1996, college: Michigan) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and American-Albanian point guard Dallas Moore (185-1994, college: UNF) added 21 points respectively for Jilin NE T. in the defeat. Four Beijing and five Jilin NE T. players scored in double figures. Jilin Tigers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Beijing moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Liaoning and Ningbo R. Loser Jilin Tigers dropped to the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Beijing will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
