Egypt conquered the Arab Basketball Championship title. They outscored in Libya in Cairo to claim the trophy. Anas Mahmoud (213-C-1995, college: Louisville) came up with 19 points and 13 rebounds for the champions. Libya grabbed a 25-22 lead after the opening frame. But Egypt improved defensively in the next quarters. They held Libya to just 8 points in the third period to take a comfortable 67-47 advantage. Egypt sank 20 points in the fourth stanza to ease to the title. Amr Gendy (192-G-1991) knocked down 18 points for the hosts. Omar Fowaz answered with game-high 27 points for Libya. Mohamed Buzgaiya (195-SG-1999) had 14 points in the defeat. |
