Arab Basketball Championship: Egypt cruise past Mauritania

Egypt made it into the semifinal stage of the Arab Basketball Champions. The hosts stunned Mauritania in Cairo tonight. Amr Gendy (192-G-1991) came up with 19 points for the winners.
Egypt unloaded 28 points in the first period to open a 10-point lead. Egypt held Mauritania to just 10 points in the second term to secure a comfortable 44-28 halftime lead. Egypt followed with a 21-15 rally in the third term to clear off for good. Khaled Abdelgawad (204-PF-1999) chipped in 12 points for the hosts. Kan Ibrahim answered with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Mauritania.
