Mighty Sports-Philippines got off to another strong start that resulted in a 90-74 rout of Jordan in the 2019 William Jones Cup in Changhua city, Taiwan, Saturday. The Filipino club guns for a third straight win when it takes on Japan on Sunday, July 14. With Eugene Phelps (198-F-90, college: LBSU) and Renaldo Balkman (203-F-84, college: S.Carolina, agency: Aspire Sports) leading the attack, Mighty Sports was never in trouble at Changhua County Gym, using its quickness and transition defense to overwhelm Jordan. Phelps led the Go For Gold-backed team with 20 points, while Balkman and Roosevelt Adams chipped in 17 and 11 points, respectively. Mikey Williams was again on target as he buried 3 triples for the second straight game to help Mighty build a 44-29 halftime lead. The win came at the heels of a 98-72 win over Iran on Friday. Mighty posted its biggest lead at 68-44. |
