Canada triumph in Taipei at the William Jones Cup 2017. They finished on top with an 8-1 record after the win over Republic of China White 117-83. Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) was named MVP of the tournament as he scored 17 points. Connor Wood (201-G-93) top-scored with 24 and Michale Kyser (208-F-91, college: Louisiana Tech) added 23. Chen Ying-Chun (183-PG-93) produced 30 points in the losing effort.
Lithuania ended up second with the same 8-1 record. In their last game they overcame Iraq 99-83. Edvinas Seskus (196-G/F-95, agency: Players Group) recorded 50 points, while Zygimantas Jocys (190-SG-95) poured in 14. Hassan Abdullah (190-G-94) replied with 25 points in the losing effort.
South Korea is third after a loss from Republic of China Blue 85-87, while
Gilas Pilipinas ends Jones Cup at 4th place after win over Iran 90-82. Import Mike Myers (206-F-92, college: Md-E Shore) top-scored with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Matthew Wright (193-G-91, college: St.Bonaventure) added 20 points, while Christian Standhardinger (206-F-89, college: Hawaii) had 13 markers and 4 boards. Day 8 in Taipei - Jul 22, 2017

Canada and Lithuania won more games at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan. Canada demolished Japan 108-60 as Dallin Bachynski (213-C-91, college: Utah) stepped up with 19 points and Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) had 17. Ryo Tawatari (180-PG-93) replied with 12 points in a loss and Leo Vendrame scored 11.
Lithuania posted an 85-73 win over Republic of China White 85-73. Six players scored in double digits as Edvinas Seskus (196-G/F-95, agency: Players Group) led the way with 16 points and Eigirdas Zukauskas added 14. Kyle Barone (208-C-89, college: Idaho) answered with 28 points in the losing effort.
In another games Philippines overcame India 101-70, while South Korea beat Iraq 93-77. Iran outscored Republic of China Blue 70-66 as Navid Rezaeifar (185-G-96) top-scored for the winners with 22 points.


Day 7 in Taipei - Jul 21, 2017

Lithuania and Canada remained dominant at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan. Lithuania overcame Philippines 91-80 as Eigirdas Zukaukas showed the way for Lithuania with 22 points and seven assists on top of four rebounds and three steals. Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-G/F-93) and Mike Myers (206-F-92, college: Md-E Shore) paced the Philippines with 14 points apiece. Matthew Wright and Roger Ray Pogoy (189-SG-92) chipped in 13 markers each while Christian Standhardinger (206-F-89, college: Hawaii) and Carl Bryan Cruz combined for 19 points and four boards.
Canada demolished India 121-72 as Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) netted 21 points and Shaquille Keith (196-F-93) poured in 18. Prasanna Venkatesh SIVAKUMAR replied with 15 points in the losing effort.
South Korea have kept alive their hopes of winning the William Jones Cup in Taiwan as they rout Japan 101-81. Jongkyu Kim stepped up with 21 points, while Yang Hongseok (199-F-97) and Sunhyung Kim had 15 each. Ando Shuto (189-G-94) answered with 12 points in a loss.
Iraq posted a 90-75 win over Iraq, while Republic of China Blue beat Republic of China White 87-83.


Day 6 in Taipei. Canada and Lithuania share the top - Jul 20, 2017

Canada and Lithuania are on top at 5-1 at the 2017 Jones Cup at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium. Canada overcame South Korea 98-72 as Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) and Connor Wood (201-G-93) led the way with 18 points each. Dongseob Lim replied with 12 points as his tam fell at 4-2 record.
Gilas improved to 4-2, forging a tie for third with the South Koreans after an 84-75 win over Iraq in the William Jones Cup tonight at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium. Mike Myers (206-F-92, college: Md-E Shore) led Gilas Pilipinas 16 points and 18 rebounds, Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-G/F-93) added 13 points, Roger Pogoy had 12 points and Carl Bryan Cruz contributed 10 points apiece.
Lithuania grabbed an 85-65 win over Republic of China Blue. Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) scored 15 points for the Baltic side and Sarunas Vingelis (191-G-89) brought 14. Yi-Hsiang Chou (190-G-91) replied with 17 points in a loss and Huan-Ya Yu had 13.
Iran edged Japan 87-78, while Republic of China White stormed past India 117-87.


Day 5 in Taipei - Jul 19, 2017

Lithuania, South Korea and Canada improved to 4-1 records at the 2017 Jones Cup at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium. Lithuania edged India 102-79 as Zygimantas Jocys (190-SG-95) led the way with 21 points and Domantas Seskus (180-PG-92) produced 20. Amjyot Singh (203-F-92, agency: Octagon Europe) delivered 20 points in a loss.
Republic of China White lost to Japan 86-91, while Canada demolished Iran 105-71. South Korea grabbed an 83-72 win over Philippines. Lee Junghyun (190-SF-99) and Sekeun Oh stepped up with 14 points each, while Ung Heo and Junyong Choi had 11 apiece. Myers Michael and Jiovani Jalalon (175-PG) scored 18 in a loss.
Iraq outscored Republic of China Blue 80-76. Demario Mayfield (196-G/F-91, college: Angelo St.) top-scored for the winners with 28 points and Navid Khajehzadeh netted 13. Long-Mao Hu and Yu Huan-Ya (183-G-93) produced 16 points each in defeat.


Day 4 in Taipei - Jul 18, 2017

South Korea and Canada suffered their first losses at the 2017 Jones Cup at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium here Tuesday and allowed other 5 teams to catch up.
Gilas Pilipinas overcame Japan 100-85 as Christian Standhardinger (206-F-89, college: Hawaii) and Mike Myers (206-F-92, college: Md-E Shore) both piled up double-double numbers while Matthew Wright, Kiefer Ravena and Jio Jalalon combined for 37 markers against the Japan 24-under team.
Republic of China White beat Iraq 87-79, while Iran smashed India 88-44. Lithuania handed South Korea a 95-80 loss as Sarunas Beniusis (206-F/C-93) led the way with 24 points and Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) added 20. JunBeon Jeon ended up with 21 points in the losing effort.
Republic of China Blue surprised Canada 89-86. Cheng Liu (192-F-90) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Zheng-Ru Lu poured in 19. Garrett Williamson (196-G-88, college: St.Joseph's) finished the night with 15 in a loss, whilst Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) notched 14.


Day 3 in Taipei. South Korea and Canada keep perfect records - Jul 17, 2017

South Korea and Canada keep the perfect records in the 39th William Jones Cup basketball tournament at the Taipei Peace International Basketball Hall, Taipei.
South Korea improved to a 3-0 record beating Iran 88-78 as Lee Junghyun (190-SF-99) and Sun-Hyung Kim (187-G-88) stepped up with 16 points each.
Canada meanwhile destroyed Iraq 99-48. Connor Wood (201-G-93) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) produced 24.
Gilas Pilipinas posted a 93-82 win over Chinese Taipei B. Matthew Wright (193-G-91, college: St.Bonaventure) poured in 21 points to pace all the winners, while Roger Ray Pogoy (189-SG-92) netted 15 and Myers Michael J. had 14. Jio Jalalon tallied 13 points and five assists, while Ravena contributed 10 points, seven assists, and two steals.
Lithuania beat Japan 94-67. Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) top-scored for the winners with 24 points, while Zygimantas Jocys (190-SG-95) delivered 14. Shuta Hara (187-G-93) ended up with 21 points in a loss and Gen Hiraiwa (198-C-97) had 11.
In another game Republic of China Blue overcame India 101-80. Zheng-Ru Lu scored 17 points, while Huan-Ya Yu added 13.

Five more games were played in Taipei in Day 2 of the 2017 William Jones Cup on Sunday, July 16. Gilas Pilipinas bounced back with a convincing 88:72 win over Chinese Taipei. Matthew Wright (193-G-91, college: St.Bonaventure) and Christian Standhardinger stepped up with 17 points each, while Kiefer Ravena had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
South Korea edged India 92-67 and Iraq improved to a 2-0 record beating Japan 79-70. Canada overcame Lithuania 102-99 as Connor Wood (193-G) poured in 18 points, while Michale Kyser (208-F-91, college: Louisiana Tech) delivered 17. Domantas Seskus (180-PG-92) replied with 22 points for the Baltic side and Edvinas Seskus (196-G/F-95, agency: Players Group) notched 17.

Five games opened 2017 William Jones Cup campaign on Saturday, July 15 in Taipei, Taiwan. Iraq overcame India 86-68 in the opener, while South Korea beat Republic of China White 87-84. Lee Seung-Hyun (201-C-92) poured in 33 points, while Sun-Hyung Kim (187-G-88) added 15. Chen Ying-Chun (183-PG-93) replied with 26 points in the losing effort.
Garrett Williamson (196-G-88, college: St.Joseph's) led Canada with 15 points, Joey Haywood (185-PG-84, college: St.Mary's), Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.), and Kyser all had 12 points each as Canada beat Philippines 90-77. Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-G/F-93) and Ray Parks led Philippines with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Lithuania edged Iran 90-84 as Edvinas Zaromskis netted 19 points and Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) added 15. Republic of China Blue beat Japan 86-65.
