Canada and Lithuania are on top at 5-1 at the 2017 Jones Cup at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium. Canada overcame South Korea 98-72 as Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.) and Connor Wood (201-G-93) led the way with 18 points each. Dongseob Lim replied with 12 points as his tam fell at 4-2 record.
Gilas improved to 4-2, forging a tie for third with the South Koreans after an 84-75 win over Iraq in the William Jones Cup tonight at the Taipei Peace Basketball Gymnasium. Mike Myers (206-F-92, college: Md-E Shore) led Gilas Pilipinas 16 points and 18 rebounds, Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-G/F-93) added 13 points, Roger Pogoy had 12 points and Carl Bryan Cruz contributed 10 points apiece.
Lithuania grabbed an 85-65 win over Republic of China Blue. Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) scored 15 points for the Baltic side and Sarunas Vingelis (191-G-89) brought 14. Yi-Hsiang Chou (190-G-91) replied with 17 points in a loss and Huan-Ya Yu had 13.
Iran edged Japan 87-78, while Republic of China White stormed past India 117-87.
