Five more games were played in Taipei in Day 2 of the 2017 William Jones Cup on Sunday, July 16. Gilas Pilipinas bounced back with a convincing 88:72 win over Chinese Taipei. Matthew Wright (193-G-91, college: St.Bonaventure) and Christian Standhardinger stepped up with 17 points each, while Kiefer Ravena had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
South Korea edged India 92-67 and Iraq improved to a 2-0 record beating Japan 79-70. Canada overcame Lithuania 102-99 as Connor Wood (193-G) poured in 18 points, while Michale Kyser (208-F-91, college: Louisiana Tech) delivered 17. Domantas Seskus (180-PG-92) replied with 22 points for the Baltic side and Edvinas Seskus (196-G/F-95, agency: Players Group) notched 17.
Iran outscored Republic of China White 77-59. Navid Rezaeifar (185-G-96) top-scored for the winners with 21 points and Keyvan Reaei delivered 15. Chen Ying-Chun (183-PG-93) scored 14 points in a loss and Kyle Barone (208-C-89, college: Idaho) added 11 points and 11 boards.
