Five games opened 2017 William Jones Cup campaign on Saturday, July 15 in Taipei, Taiwan. Iraq overcame India 86-68 in the opener, while South Korea beat Republic of China White 87-84. Lee Seung-Hyun (201-C-92) poured in 33 points, while Sun-Hyung Kim (187-G-88) added 15. Chen Ying-Chun (183-PG-93) replied with 26 points in the losing effort.
Garrett Williamson (196-G-88, college: St.Joseph's) led Canada with 15 points, Joey Haywood (185-PG-84, college: St.Mary's), Diego Kapelan (190-G-87, college: McNeese St.), and Kyser all had 12 points each as Canada beat Philippines 90-77. Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-G/F-93) and Ray Parks led Philippines with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Lithuania edged Iran 90-84 as Edvinas Zaromskis netted 19 points and Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-F-92) added 15. Republic of China Blue beat Japan 86-65. Yi-Hsiang Chou (190-G-91) top-scored for the winners with 22 points, while Cheng Liu (192-F-90) and Po-Hsun Chou (197-PF-91) notched 11 apiece. Gen Hiraiwa (198-C-97) produced 15 points for Japan.
