New Zealand, China and Japan win openers in Taiwan

New Zealand, China and Japan won the opening games in Taiwan at the start of the William Jones Cup tournament.
China edged South Korea 70-63 as Pin Lo posted 17 points and Chen Wei-An (178-C-95) nailed 16. Jieun Park (183-C-95) ended up with 14 points in a loss, whilst GaEun Kim delivered 12.
Japan meanwhile outscored Chinese Taipei 83-70. Saki Hayashi (171-G-95) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and Midori Murayama (178-F-93) had 12.
The Tall Ferns outgunned India 75-52 as Micaela Cocks (174-G-86, college: Oregon) scored 21 points to lead all the winners. Chevannah Paalvast (180-G/F-91, college: Monmouth) netted 15 and Jillian Harmon (185-PF-87, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) added 11.
