TAIPEI, TAIWAN --Kristina King (180-G/F-92, college: Richmond) scored 28 points as she carried Team USA pummeled Thailand, 93-44, to notch its first victory in the 2016 William Jones Cup Tuesday in Taiwan. King also had 10 rebounds as she sank crucial baskets to pace the Americans. Alysha Harvin (178-G-88, college: Florida St.) also added 27 points, while Taylor Turnbow (187-C-90, college: LSU) contributed 10 markers. Team USA JC got off to a 14-6 start, but Thailand made a run but never really got close. King continued for five straight points, including 20 points in the first half. Team USA JC pulled away in the second quarter thanks to a 19-4 run that handed them a 41-24 lead. Halftime ended at 48-21 with Team USA led by King's 20 points and Taylor Ford (175-G-92, college: UALR) 9 points.
"It was a great win for us", said Rickey Huang (team manager). Kristina King and Harvin played great. We will need their scoring if we want to continue to win at the Jones Cup.
Team USA JC will face heavy favorite Japan NT tomorrow at 5pm.
