Rain or Shine continues its free-fall, this time suffering a heart-breaking 73-71 defeat to United Arab Emirates to remain winless in the 42nd William Jones Cup on Monday, August 14 at the Taiwan Heping Gymnasium. The Elasto Painters failed to contain Hamid Abdulateef Abreiki who was too hot to handle with the gunner firing 15 of his 22 points in the last period. His three-point shot late in the game gave UAE a 71-69 lead. Nick Demusis (193-F-1991, college: Whittier) pushed ROS to within 71-72 but Abreiki eventually sealed the game after splitting his foul shots in the dying seconds to seal UAE's first win in the tournament. Gian Mamuyac (180-G-1999) tried to steal the game for Rain or Shine but his three-point attempt got foiled by UAE's defense at the buzzer, dropping the Elasto Painters to 0-3. Demusis and import Nick Evans (210-F-1988, college: S.Indiana) led Rain or Shine with 12 points.
