Hayes number one in West Asia Super League for round 8- March 16, 2023
The 35-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, three rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Orthodox (#5, 2-3) 89-76. It allowed Beirut Club to consolidate first place in the West Asia Super League. Beirut Club have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Hayes had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Beirut Club's top player in his first season with the team. Former Miami University star has very solid stats this year. Hayes is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 7.0apg). The second best player in last round's games was young American Brandon Peterson (203-C/F-1990, agency: Diamond Sports) of Orthodox. Peterson had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Orthodox lost that game 76-89 to the higher-ranked Beirut Club (#1, 4-1). Orthodox managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Peterson is a newcomer at Orthodox, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was U.S. Virgin Islands forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-F-1994, agency: Pensack Sports) of league's top team Kuwait. Georges-Hunt showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, six rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Kuwait, leading his team to a 106-78 easy win against #4 ranked Al-Manama in a game of the week. Kuwait started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Georges-Hunt turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Georges-Hunt has a very solid season.
