2012 Fiba Asia Cup: Iran storm past Uzbekistan into semifinals

Iran eased into Fiba Asia Cup semifinal stage. They thumped Uzbekistan in the first quarterfinal of the day in Tokyo. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-86) posted 12 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners.
Uzbekistan tried to stay close throughout the first frame. They trailed by just four points after ten minutes 13:17. But Iran held their opponents to just 3 points in the second quarter and boosted the gap. They ensured a 32:16 halftime advantage. Iran increased the tempo in the third term. They unloaded 27 points and piled up a 34-point lead before the fourth quarter. Iran never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory. Aren Davoudichegani (185-PG-86) posted 11 points, while Mohammad Jamshidi (197-SF-91) added 10 point for Iran. Vyacheslav Denisov (195-G-83) responded with 9 points for Uzbekistan. Aleksandr Yahin (205-C-89) netted 8 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
