Philippines registered the second straight win at the Fiba Asia Cup in Tokyo. They outgunned Uzbekistan to improve at 2-1 record in Group A. Uzbekistan fell at 1-1 record after the loss. Jeffrei Chan (192-F-83) posted 20 points to lead the winners.
Philippines set the tone early in the clash. They outscored Uzbekistan for a 23:16 lead after ten minutes. Philippines limited their opponents at 5 points in the second quarter to boost the gap. Smart Gilas Pilipinas accumulated a 39:21 halftime advantage. They maintained the lead well enough throughout the second half and cruised to the victory. Jared Dillinger (191-G/F-84, college: Hawaii) produced 10 points, while Marcus Douthit (210-C/F-80, agency: Edge Sports, college: Providence) added 9 points for the winners. Vyacheslav Denisov (195-G-83) answered with 16 points for Uzbekistan. Samender Juginisov (202-F-87) had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
