Iran registered the third straight win at the start of 2011 Asian Championship. They drubbed Uzbekistan to clinch the top position in Group B. Seven players scored in double figures for Iran. Arsalan Kazemi (199-F-90) and Hamed Haddadi (218-C-85) accounted for 18 points each in the win. Uzbekistan slipped at 1-2 record in the ladder.
Iran unloaded 38 points in the opening quarter to take a 24-point lead. The margin just kept on growing in the second frame. Iran erupted for 41 points in the quarter to establish a 79:25 halftime lead. Iran easily reached 100-point mark in the third term posting a 107:34 advantage at the final intermission. They never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory at the end. Asghar Kardoust (212-C-86, agency: SportsList Inc.) posted 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Saeid Davarpanah (191-G/F-87) had 14 points in the win. Aleksandr Kozlov (201-F-82) answered with 12 points for Uzbekistan. Samender Juginisov (202-F-87) netted 7 points in the loss.
