Brazil earned the fourth straight win at the home World Military Championship. They overcame Uzbekistan to claim the second position in Group B. Brazil will take on Trinidad and Tobago in the quarterfinal tonight. Uzbekistan fell at 1-4 record at the bottom of the ladder.
Brazil took off late in the opening quarter. They went on an 8:2 run to post a 16:8 lead. Brazil opened a double-digit lead in the second quarter as they arrived at halftime up by 11 points 30:19. The Latin American side stretched the margin in the third frame. They built a 24-point advantage with one quarter remaining 56:32. The gap grew at 30-point mark in the final period and Brazil never looked back afterwards. Luiz Felipe Campos (191-G-80, college: BYU) knocked down 29 points to pace the home team. Fred Dos Santos added 19 points in the victory. Vyacheslav Denisov (190-G-83) answered with 13 points for Uzbekistan. Aleksandr Kozlov (202-F-82) finished with 11 points in defeat.
