DPR Korea - Uzbekistan 81:70

DPR Korea recorded their second win at the preliminary round of Asian Games. They held off Uzbekistan in Guangzhou to improve at 2-3 record in the fourth place in Group E. DPR Korea thus made it into the quarterfinals. They will face Japan on Wednesday. Uzbekistan remained winless at the bottom of the standings. Chol Pak Un (185-G-81) fired 21 points to lead the winners.
DPR Korea and Uzbekistan kept it close before the Korean team went on a 9:5 run to take a 17:11 lead at the first break. A high-flying second term saw DPR Korea stay in charge. They ensured a 36:31 lead at halftime. Uzbekistan tipped off the second half on a 7:1 run to surge ahead. DPR Korea answered right back as they triggered a 13:2 rally and secured a 50:40 lead at the final intermission. DPR Korea stretched the lead to double figures at the start of the fourth quarter. Uzbekistan failed to respond and the Koreans gradually took over. They did not slow down and marched to the victory.
Kwang Kye (180-G-84) and Jin Pak Myong (191-F-82) nailed 16 points each for DPR Korea. Byol Sin Kum (191-F-87) had 15 points in the win. Samender Juginisov (202-F-87) answered with 25 points and 9 rebounds for Uzbekistan. Hurmatjon Nuraliev (201-F-81) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
